they are more reliable, but more costly, this module does have on board memory, and can be used on its own as a timer without a dedicated computer, however the insteon commands contain too much information to download macros and sophisticated events ect.....
ie, you can plug in to comp program, on/off schedules and remove from comp, plug into wall and run on/off command to modules based on time alone, but you can not have the mister turn on when its low humid, and off when its right without having it plug in to an always on computer, pm me i have an extra powerlinc you can have, i live in oc.
