Congrats, cute little tykes. i always try to keep any with a yolk sac still and keep it moist until they absorb it. Just how I handle it.

Great work. Did you do anything special to get your Anks to breed. (Like simulating seasonal changes) This is one of the locales i'd like to get into soon and I'd like to know as much as possible about breeding techniques.

I didnt do anything in particular. Just put them together once she became receptive. I incubated the eggs at a steady 24c for the whole duration. I also forgot to give them the initial cool off period, probably why i waited so long. Im glad they finally hatched, i was told they are notoriously more difficult than other locales but seems just the same to me. Its true that they are smaller than normal though! im feeding fruit flies for the first week or 2, then ill move on to the tiny crix.

Thanks man. Ive been tempted a cpl of times to get a few Anks. I kind of held off because of their reputation of being difficult to breed. Im beginning to wonder if its just inexperienced keepers that were having troubles with them and thats how those rumors started. Or if they just have a shorter receptive period than some of the other locales.

Either way congrats and keep us updated with pics. I'd love to watch them start to color up a bit. I wish you were stateside!:D

Got another egg thats slit now, 2 more of them sweating. Im really excited about these. Theyve taken the longest ever due to me incubating them at a slow rate. I heard that the slower you incubate them, the better chance the neonates have and with Anks being smaller than average and with a higher mortality rate I wanted to give them the best start I could.

Thats the easy part almost over with, now the real challenge begins! :D

So do i mate. Ive visited America a couple of times now and never fails to impress me. Only problem is, id have a nightmare getting my chams over! Plus, i dont have much to offer, ive been in the military too long now but ive taken the plunge and decided to leave next year. Now i just gotta get some trade skills for civilian life.

The Anks dont really colour up much when theyre young. My male took almost 2 years to get some real colours in him. You can see hints of pink but not much. more of a washed out grey, with a pink tint!
