i had the same thing happen to me! i had 10 and still have 10 so it is possible to keep them alive. one of my big suggestions (having raised lots of pets and a couple of kids) is to let them eat as much as they want - always leaving a little extra. i just can't believe that food restriction in the early stage benefits anyone. i fed mine drosophila in the beginning - forget the pin head crix unless you really believe that the chams are premature and can't handle the 1/8 crix. the flies are probably easier for them to catch since they only crawl and can't hop far like the crix do. i also moved mine into a screen cage right away to prevent uri.
