Baby chameleon sleeping during the day

The gutloads should be swapped out for either a variety of green veg or if something that you can premake is easier then you can buy something like repashy bug burger. Get the larger jar of this though. You mix it according to the directions and store it in the fridge. This and fresh items are food and water. No need to use the flukers at all.
because when I had dubias I tried to feed them leafy greens and they only come in large quantities so they would all spoil before I was able to feed them to my chameleon.

Yes, so some of us use a food processor and blend all our fresh ingredients down. This allows us to add things like bee pollen as well and load more veg and fruit in. This way you do not get the waste. You put the blended into freezer safe containers and put them in the freezer then take a new one out and put in the fridge to use.

Bug burger is a good alternative if your not overly excited about blending to avoid waste lol.

Dubia roaches also like to be kept warmer. You may find they do not eat if they are not warm.

Actually I have one more question. So my chameleon will come on my hand. But only when he sees I have food. When I don't have food, as soon as I open his cage he/she stands very still and hisses if I put my hand near him or her. How can I train him or her to like me better?

That will just take some time he/she needs to get used to you but one thing while waiting for the new uvb you can take he/she outside if it warm enough

treat training builds trust. They normally are not keen on coming out but the more the enclosure is set up correctly and husbandry is on point the safer they start to feel. When it comes to hand feeding this is one of the best ways to build trust. For them to learn that you will not hurt them. But I would not try to take baby out until the enclosure and lighting is correct. You want to make sure you keep stress down because when they start to shut down and show outward signs of health issues this is typically when they are quite sick.

Once the enclosure is correct you will be able to continue with giving feeders by hand. This shows them that you are the bringer of the food. They like the food so they in turn tolerate you. Each has their own personality though. All three of mine are hand fed and know they can trust me. One will let me get him out when it is on his terms, one absolutely does not want to come out, and one is currently learning. I think he will end up more like my first and be more tolerant.

Keep in mind Veileds are much more stand offish compared to a Panther. While some can be friendly most are not. So building trust becomes an important thing. Never pushing or going to fast. Everything is at their pace.

Here is a blog I did on how I treat train to build trust. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/

@Beman what can I do about the sleeping during the day? Should I try to keep him awake or just leave him and see if he gets better with the new lighting?

ok so he is going to close his eyes because he is not getting UVB lighting right now. You can try taking him outside for natural sun but it can not be too hot. 70-80 would be good. I would do this for a minimum of 30 minutes. See how he does. If he starts gaping (holding his mouth open) then it is too warm for him and you need to go to the shade. If you have an area that is partly sunny that is the best because temps will be cooler but they still get the UVB.

Make sure your also doing a full 12 hours with light then 12 hours total darkness. Light at night disturbs their sleep.

You will find once the enclosure is what baby needs to thrive then he will stop doing things like sleeping during the day.
