Baby Deremensis with broken tibia

OMG!!! That is just the cutest thing ever...I practically spewed wine out my nose when I saw that baby with the tape on his leg...you are a great chameleon baby parent!
 
hey how is your lil guy doing..?? and how did the splint work out for him..? i think my man Clyde has a fracture also on his front right leg. he is still able to climb with it, but it seems weak for him to grab.. me and a friend are ganna put a splint on tonight..

He's doing really well, he really books around his cage. Deremensis aren't very active anyway, but this guy moves well for his species, and he uses that leg as a tripod to balance himself! It's sad but funny. Since he can't grip with it, he figures he'll use it for whatever he can. It hasn't healed yet so the splint will have to be left on for a very long time, changing it as he grows, of course. These guys grow extremely slowly, and therefore their bones heal slowly as well, which is kind of frustrating.
Sorry about your little guy. Depending on their size, I find toothpicks work well to put on either side (cutting the sharp points of, of course). My little one was way too small to use toothpicks; sometimes we have to get creative with these guys :rolleyes:
