baby jackson cham health concerns

Hi so yesterday i had a clutch of jacksons born and theirs two that im concerned about, one of the babies has one eye that seems to be sealed shut but the other eye is fine and the other one im concerned about has the sack still stuck all around his body and he seems to have a broken tail and he won't curl

I don't know what you can do for them but make them comfortable at this stage. They may not be as developed as their siblings. Sometimes they are born with a reddish bump attached at their belly and that is normal but elsewhere is not. You could try a damp q-tip to get it off but that could kill him. Sorry I can't be more help.

I’m there with you! I got a sick one now. She slept all day today. I know it’s just a matter of time. One eye is swollen and the other has been shut. @JacksJill i will take your advise as well and make her comfortable

Absolutely. I know that looks like liquid coming out but it’s water I had just missed it not too long ago but I wish there were something I could do.

How long has the eye been bothering it?

The swollen one for awhile but she was still eating and pooping. I quarantined her to make sure of it. So I put her back in the group but today I noticed that she was doing a lot of sleeping today. I took a look at her and that’s when I noticed the other eye was closed.

When they are that little I don't know of anything that can be done. I don't know how you could get meds into one that small without doing more harm than good.

Update*** so I am not a vet but I wanted to do something, better to help the baby than just to see it suffer. If it would result in death, it was a risk I willing to take to help relieve some of her pain. So I dropped a couple drops of antibiotics, mixed with Pangea and water. I had to force fed it, a small amount of the mixture. It was touch and go. Last night was bad. But this morning, the eye went down, and she even opened the other eye for a bit today. She is moving around better today as well. I’m not saying we are out of the woods but I am saying maybe I’m on to something. I know Jackson babies have a high mortality rate, I’m holding on to them as long as possible.

Update*** poor baby Chameleon with the bad eye passed away today! While I am a little sad, I find solace in knowing she is no longer in pain.

I'm sorry she didn't make it but good to hear the rest are doing well. These aren't easy to raise.

When the lights are too strong, they don´t have enought foilage to get cover or the walls of their container reflex the light back, their eyes can get irritated an swollow. You should turn off the lights a couple of thays until the swollow goes down and they open them again, fix more plants and a container that don´t reflect as much light. Too barren container can be a problem. I have seen this witch hatchling yemens aswell.

Lack of vitamin a does this too. eyes shuted down I mean. But it should not happen within days of being born. a couple of drops of vitamin a in oil form (not betta carrotein but plaint a vitamin) on their feeder once a month should help with this.
