im new to the chameleon world i have purchased a baby panther (told it was a male). First i had it in a 56qt tub because i was told to due to my screen cage being too big. i reduced the size of the tub to a 5gal 0r 10 critter cage still no eating tomorrow will be the 3rd day. i have a plat that sits about half the height of the cage and drapes down to the floor. i have a 24 inch zilla tropical series 25 uvb/florescent and a 50 watt zoo meds basking spot lamp both come on at 8am and are off by 7:30pm (thats when the baby decides to go to sleep) need help dont want to loose the little guy.

Took mine to the vet yesterday cause he would not eat. The vet mixed up a feeding solution and then showed me how to force feed him. It only costed me like 30 bucks.... take him to the vet.

that might be my next options hes only about 3 months old i think (about 3 1/2 inches long) but really active.

had a 2 month old. Really verry active... had trouble feeding him... went to bed... woke up... he was dead...

Take him to the vet.

Have you tried changing its feeders a bit? I have read that chams can get bored of a certain type of food if they are given too much of it.

(Disclaimer: I am still new myself)

I hope he gets better!

[Edit]
How long has it been since it ate?

tried several feeders. The mixture that the vet shoved down his throaght made him snap right out of his funk!! I am not positive but I think he ate today..... and he was super active. I heard somewhere that when they are hanging upside down, they are hunting.... I saw him hanging upside down today... So I dusted a silkworm and tried to handfeed him.... he was not interested so I put it on the branch in front of him and when I came back later I could not find it.....

i made it to where he could get to every part of the cage easly high and low and i really appriciate all the help. does my set up seem to be ok.

for his size and the size of you tank he should be able to get his food. when i don't see my babies eat i put them in a small cricket keeper and leave them there for a bit to see if they eat. (most of the time they do). make sure the feeder you are giving him are small enough for him and you are keeping him hydrated. if you don't see a difference i would take him to the vet asap. :) hope he gets better

babies eat a lot so he should be eating.

this would be better off in the health section, people there are really helpful and more prepared to answer questions on urgent health. there is also a questionare on how to ask for help and pictures help

Right, but it's probably something simple like him offering something that the chams not interested in or whatever he is offering is too big.

if the feeders are too big, he may not eat them either. What size crickets are you giving him? can you post a pic of your set up? have you tried cup feeding?

1) What are you feeding him? If he's 3 1/2 inches long he should be able to eat small crickets. If the crickets are too big he won't go for them

2) What is the temp in the cage? I'm worried you have him in that tiny container with a 50 watt bulb right on top.

3) Is he drinking? How are you watering him?

He has never had a chameleon before, is housing it in a tub, and the chameleon has yet to eat. We have no solid knowledge of the health of the chameleon and have seen no pictures, it may be the cricket size, and it could be the new owner has a sick cham and he doesn't have the experience to identify a real problem yet. I just want to make sure the chameleon is okay and healthy enough to eat :)
