baby panther enclosure

so this is my first post on here and am in need of a little help. so i will be getting a panther chameleon soon and it will be a baby of course. i have seen that you want to put babies in a smaller enclosure before introducing them into a full size one. is that true? And if so is a 18x18x24 exo terra glass enclosure work?(yes, i know lots of people hate glass enclosures and ive heard every pro and con to them)

There is a very good reason why many of us "hate" glass enclosures. Have you had a chameleon before? People can successfully keep chameleons in a glass cages, but this is the exception to the norm and I highly recommend reconsidering glass. It is smarter to start with screen before trying glass, which poses a much greater health risk if you are not very careful. I live in a cold and typically dry place and do not struggle to keep humidity up

I usually prefer bigger ones because it saves money, and they can explore a little more:ROFLMAO::) like you said you’re getting glass and that’s ok. See why I like the screen is that there is more air flow. But you can usually start small and work your way up. And congrats!! P.S. I’m new to and I’m not a pro but I want to try and do my best;)

Enclosure size also depends on exactly how old your panther chameleon will be. I have always introduced my 3-4 month old chameleons to full sized (4 feet tall) enclosure and have never had problems with them acclimating. In fact, as long as there is enough foliage and perches, I think they have loved all the space that it provides

syreptyon do you have an email i can send a picture to. my big enclosure has the top and half of the short sides screen. my small one is a typical exo terra terrarium. also are u saying that i should just put the chameleon in the big one to start with?

Thanks,
hayden

You can post pictures here! Just use the "upload a file" button next to "post reply." I'm not necessarily saying that you should just start with the big one, but if your chameleon is in the 3-4 month range I am saying it shouldn't be a problem to start it out in the bigger one. Some people definitely prefer to start smaller and upgrade later on, but in my experience I have not found this necessary as long as you aren't dealing extremely young chameleons

they r on my phone so i will upload a pic to a new thread tonight. :) do u think since i do have a glass enclosure that i should use a fan to circulate air in my room?

hey i just made a post today with a pic of my enclosure if u wanna take a look at it the post is called "any suggestions for my enclosure"

Where are you located? I live in Arizona and find screen or glass tanks to both work although they both have advantages and disadvantages. If you do not live in a super dry environment though, I would advise on getting a screen tank. If you buy older than 3-4 months you should not have any problem putting them into an 18 x 18 x 36 or a similar size. Of course males will need lots of room and females will not so it also depends what gender your chameleon is.
