baby veiled wont eat so much.

I have a 3 week old baby veiled chameleon and yesterday when i got him in his box he had a lot of fruit flies and ate most of them. when i put him in his new home, he drank water and slept all night. today in the morning he ate a fruit fly and in the afternoon a mealworm. he doesnt like small crickets and doesnt want to eat anymore. is it normal for him to only eat twice? also he is a light green color is that normal too?

Try to think about how big the little guys stomach is. Not very. Amealworm can take up a bunch of that space. Make sure his temps and water are good, and let him digest.

On a side note- I really disapprove of a 3 week chameleon being sold. IMO, they are too small and fragile, especially to go to an entire new home, and in to the hands of a potentially unprepared handler. PLEASE dont think Im applying this label to you, Stitch, but there are many who are grossly incapable with a too young hatchlings.

thats true thanks! his temps and water is all good. i know it was a gift and i did not know he would be so young so i am doing my best to take good care of him, i have all the supplies he needs. i am just trying my best to be a good owner for him.

Sweet. As I said, I wasnt directing that at you, despite it being in your thread. we just see a lot of threads with 1 month or less chameleons and people ahving problems or concerns with them. Thats disheartening.

i know i've seen a lot too with troubles and many people try their best to guide them the right way. i dont mean to come off with problems i am just trying to do the best i can for the little guy. i know hes young and thats why i ask on here to get people who know more about them to take good care of him, and i do appreciate you for helping me out.

Stitch, at that age you need to think more in terms of eating small amounts throughout the day rather than just a coup of meals a day.

Not sure what kind of enclosure you have him in, but I would suggest you keep FF avail to him at all times.

For example, when my lil ones are that age I keep them 10 to a tub (large tub) and there may be 150-200 FF running around for them to eat whenver they want.

The FF wont hurt them.

HTH

thank you so much saldarya, i was just reading how they eat a lot and i was just concerned. i have him in air screen cage. i have all the right temperature and humidity he needs! thanks for the extra advice!
