I have just been to a petshop and was shocked to see the state of the reptiles. There was a baby beardie dead and an adult male in a two foot cage. There was also a female veiled with the tip of her tailall dried up and shriveled looking like it was about to come off. She was in with an adult male who had really bad sperm plugs The female is kept with him because she is their breeder so she has about 6 clutches of eggs a year. There were also two male veileds together. i would love to save the female but the vet bills would be high. It is so sad to see reptiles like this. the thing that worries me most is i bought my female veiled from there

It is such a bummer to see the lack of care these shops give animals sometimes. Earlier this week I came across a situation just like that with a pet shop here in San Diego. They used to have 4 different types of chameleons a month ago but now are down to 1. I try to talk to them about what they need to start doing to properly care for these guys, but they look at me like i am a idiot. The last cham they are down to is a male ambilobe who is around 6 months old has a cyst on 1 eye and the other is barely open and they still have the nerve to tell me he is perfectly fine except a minor issue with his eye. They are still asking 299.99 dollars for this poor fellow. I would take him off their hands and try to get him back into good health but they are not willing to let him go!! Shows what they are in the business for. The only thing i feel i can do is not support them, If there are some San Diego locales that want to know the shop PM i will tell you there, Dont want to blurt the name on open forms, But giving a heads up is nice. I wish the little guy could get saved:mad:

I would like to think that even that would get you shut down in the US, or at least fined. but im not even sure.

dunno about the rules in the UK.

I remember seeing a gorgeous Nosy Be Cham in a pet shop where the people who ran it where complete idiots. I didn't get a close look at it, but the chameleon was in a glass tank, and for the rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about that poor Nosy Be and how stressed he must have been. Who knows how the hell they got it, but if I could've I would have stolen it just to give it a good home!
