hi all i need to buy a basking bulb and i was wondering which one would be best to get i live in the uk if anyone can help i would be greatful meny thanks:D

I was talking about this last night on the forum for my Yemen. I'm just on my way out now to buy a 60 watt reflector (spot light) bulb from Tesco. I don't know if it matters as to what species you keep though.

are you getting a white bulb or a colour i was using a 100 watt but wasent sure if this was to much iv got a yeman cham:D

Just a normal spot R80, not coloured. If you've got a bayonet connector then don't bother trying tesco. I've just been to Tesco, Sainsburys, Homebase and finally found them at B&Q

A clamp fixture and a regular household bulb will do. Put your hand where he basks and if you have to remove your hand because it is too hot then you have your answer - reduce the bulb wattage. I use 60's but then again I live in Florida where it is warm. In fact sometime in the afternoon I have to turn my basking bulbs off because they the cage is too hot. I always leave my UV bulb on though. 12 hours a day, every day.
