Basking light question

Is it possible to put some sort of an a heat lamp on a thermostat that will adjust the temps up and down to obtain a certain basking temp throughout the day instead of having to worry all the time and raising and lowering the dang light. I am going nuts. I want to set it and forget it like I do with my snakeskin a thermostat and a radiant heat panel. It makes life so much easier. I am not suggesting a radiant heat panel for a Cham just giving everyone an idea of what I am looking for.

You still have new chameleon mommy syndrome, lol. If your average temp does not reach over 95 at the hottest part of the day then you are fine. If the ambient temp of the room stays in the mid 70s and the lower reaches of the cage are the same you are fine. Set the lamp midway from where you raise and lower it and leave it there. If its getting too hot change the bulb to a lower wattage. you should no have to raise and lower the light daily unless the temp in your room is changing drastically. The reason I change the position of my light or up or lower the wattages is based on changes in the room temp like colder in winter or hotter in summer. Part of the point of the basking light is the brightness it provides to the cage so you dont want that light to go on and off during the day with temp changes.

Lmao. Come on Brian, you know I am a gadget girl. Help me out. I have my 6,500k plant light he has plenty of natural light. I am working on coming up with a cool feeder cup too? You should be happy I am spoiling your all time best ever produced chameleon.

To some degree, your chameleon is your thermostat. :D If it has enough space it will do the thermal regulation all by itself...by moving. Provide a safe upper temp limit, nighttime temp drops, darkness, and provide room to select just where it wants to be at a particular time. Its not quite the same as a terrestrial herp that wants its heat from substrate (I know, I know, some snakes want gradients and temp cycles too).

Thanks. I will chill out and quit worrying so much :)
