Just like chameleon owners have this really cool forum, does anyone of know a good reliable site for bearded dragons? Want to add another pet to the fam

I believe there is a bearded dragon forum. I joined one once when I thought about getting one. They are the most popular pet lizard so there's plenty of forums out there with beardie people.

Thank you! Didnt think anyone was gonna reply. My son fell in love with my cham so I was able to talk my wife into a beardie and best part is they eat the same thing my cham eats lol such a plus thank you

I've kept beardies and if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them if I can.
Ok I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area so the weather is warm and humidity low. Almost matches the beardies requirements. Almost like owning veiled chams in Florida. I have a good shaded backyard. How much can you tell me about having him outside? I would put him in a spot where he wouldn't get direct sunlight all day and also have hiding spots for the beardie. I would have mesh screen also to keep all types of bugs out. All tips and advice appreciated.

I live in Canada so time for them to be outside was limited.i did make a harness and take them for walks on my shoulder sometimes but because I have hawks and cats and other critters in my area I didn't leave them outside without supervision.

I think you have the right ideas on what to do to keep them outside...shade availability...some sun is ok as long as they can get out of it when they want to...screen cage...don't forget a water source if you're going to leave them out all day.

Yes my next question. I heard they dont require water in their set up just to give them a bath 2 times a week or so. So with him being outside I will definitely make sure he has water at all times. Some of the hornworms I got for my cham are getting too big to feed so definitely will be giving them to the beardie lol I saw they eat the same things our chams eat!

I never gave mine a bath at all...I provided them with a dish of water that I changed every day. Once in a while I would mist them from above as if they were getting rained on.

I fed them the same greens and veggies and a bit of fruit that I use for feeding/gutloading the insects with. I supplemented them the same way too and used the same lights on the cage except that the basking temperature was a bit higher.

Although they did have a hollow log to hide in they never ever used it but preferred to sit on the top of it.

Beardies are omnivorous, so make sure they get plenty of fresh veggies, keep fruits as a treat.

Better late than never?

Beardies shouldn't require water or bathing under normal circumstances.

Unlike chameleons, they're from an arid environment, and are capable of getting all the moisture they need from their diet of fresh greens & veggies and juicy bugs.

Mine has never drunk water, and he's only had 2 baths in the 7 months I've had him; one to ease some stuck shed (which turned out wasn't necessary), and one warm bath to ease some constipation. Another reason for bathing might be if they've dragged through some ? or something.

His movements always include fairly copious amounts of water, which is normal for sufficiently hydrated dragons.

I know you asked for a forum, and I normally don’t like fb groups, but this one called How Not to Slay the Dragon is pretty great.
