Snakes arent ready for the smell of rats, so fed them to the beardies.......yum!!

Now, I know they're gonna love some silkies if I can get a certain forum member to sell some to me!! HA!

I do not think reputable beardie breeders would advocate the feeding of rats to beardies. Not to mention those beardies look a little young to handle that food load.

PRETTY CRUEL ALSO. Those Beardies I am sure took awhile to kill a rat that large so it had to be pretty tortorous. This could have caused injury (or still could) to one or both dragons there. Lame move IMO.

:Djust goes to show you everyone has an opinion. what maynot be rite for you doesnt meen it isnt rite for someone else IMO...

As mentioned above this is not a good idea, the most anyone would recommend is one pinky every 1-2 months when they reach ADULT size.

Right is right. Wrong is wrong...PERIOD. I have snakes so do not think I am against feeding rodents.

yea, I think those beardies are a little young. But, It is ok to feed a small mouse feeder to a beardie every other month. But if they are eating well, the mice will make the beardie FAT, they are little fat balls with tails. Its best to feed a full grown beardie one if you want to plump him up a bit. IMO I dont recomend feeding a mouse to your beardie at all. I love my beardie!

first off, those r pups...dont even have their eyes open yet....and the young ones cornering the 1 pup didnt even do anything, they were more curious then anything.....one of the adults came over and ate it withina few minutes......i feed pinkies like once every 2 months. The only reason I fed them these is cause my snakes wouldnt eat them........I didnt let any of the young ones that I knew couldnt eat them to have the chance to try........the Adults can eat these in a matter of a few minutes and thats what happened. My monitors have smaller mouths and they get full size mice.....

I tend to agree with Juli, Brye, why live? How hard is it for you to kill a rodent mate?
Cruelty being in the risk of injury to the lizards as much as to the rodent.

and the young ones cornering the 1 pup.........
........I didnt let any of the young ones that I knew couldnt eat them to have the chance to try.

say what's this then?

Monitors are a different proposition, they typically tear and rip , and have the capacity to eat larger meals than dragons. (in peices). Beardys just swallow. Even the rat pup in the pic above is way too much a meal for an adult beardy, let alone that size.
Not surprising Beardys so treated in the us, are bigger fatter and live shorter lives.

just goes to show you everyone has an opinion. what maynot be rite for you doesnt meen it isnt rite for someone else IMO...

Not opinions, Facts. The biology and dietry requirements of bearded dragons are well studied. Its only keepers who do so anyway,
dont 'see' any problem with it, then decide it must be 'right', because their lizard didnt drop dead.
Just because millions of dragons are so mistreated and dont die (immediately) dosent mean its ok, it just means there are so many ignorant keepers and that beardys are amazingly hardy, despite overfeeding and incorrect diet/husbandry.
Sad fact but not one that will change any time soon.

Not going to beat a dead horse but that's not very smart. Maybe feeding pups but it should be obvious that the pups are far to large for the beardies. Sure they maybe able to handle it but have you ever heard of the problems beardies are known to have from taking prey to large? Some of those problems include paralisis! Why risk something like that?
