Bedroom window enclosure

Moved KP to my bedroom so he could be bothered less, have a daily dose of sunshine and also be locked away from our curious 8month old cat, also so I won’t sit in the living room and look at his enclosure obsessing over every detail hoping it’s right like I do

Does this look alright and will this work out well for me?

Hard to say about the size of cage from the photo but those type of UV bulbs have very little actual UV output. It wont even show up on a cheap tester.

Cage is a 16x16x30, he’a only 2 months old so I figured that would be alright for now and those UVB bulbs are one exoterra 100 uvb tropical UVB, and one tubeular light that came with the zoomed tropical dual dome light fixture. I’ve talked to a few people and they state that they will work until I upgrade KP into his big boy enclosure, which will be in about two months. He spends most of his time basking under the UVB bulbs, so I figured he’s gettin a good amount of uvb. I’ve already had some people point me to Todd at lightyourreptiles tbough planning on putting a Arcadia 5.0 on him but should I just get a 14” linear uvb bulb anyways even if I’m only going to use it for a short time?

I'm just getting back into chameleons after 20 years away. Back then, it was questionable if we even needed UVB bulbs and the UVB bulbs had very little UVB anyway. My veildes lived about two years and reproduced with no artificial UVB so I would say you should be fine temporarily not having the linear bulb.

@NickTide wow, pretty wild how things have changed since then, I guess a good welcome back is in order. And he won’t be without for long. I just talked with Todd Goode of lightyourreptiles.com and he set me up with a dual t5 24” hood with a 6% Arcadia UVB bulb and a 6.5k daylight bulb that will probably make a world of difference.

For the two months until you move him in to his big boy enclosure those lights should be fine. You'll definitely notice a big difference when you get the new fixture from Todd though, his stuff is top notch. I would definitely try to set the cage on something taller though to make him feel safer like he's up in a tree. A cheap option is to use one of those plastic drawer thingy's on wheels like one of these:

Thanks for the advice @NorCalAnthony i’ll definitely get him set up on top of something, and as soon as I do i’ll Post a pic. You’re the second person to say that so i’ll for sure make it happen!

Yup, Reasons why all of this thread is about my upgrading UVB lighting. Also I was asking if it was good by the window for temperature reasons. I appreciate the help though, friend. @kinyonga

The window stays closed and is double sealed so there’s not a big temperature drop near the window. My bedroom also stays warmer, so KP’s nighttime temp stays at 68-70 degrees and his daytime usually runs 74-78 with a basking of 85. Think this will be addiquite? @kinyonga
