Best calcium/vitamin

I really like Minerall and then also the loD repashy calcium plus once every other week (well, once a week, but I mix it half and half with a plain calcium.) Minerall has really low levels of vit D in it (indoor version) so you can use much more often than something like repcal. In fact, if you used minerall with d3 everyday, it would be less D3 than using repcal 2 times a month. I like the loD calcium plus as a multivitamin, but I wont use it daily because I feel that there is just too much d3 and vit A (amongst other things) for my circumstances/situation. I use supplements to do just that, supplement my chameleons' diet. I am confident in my gutloading, variety of feeders, and UVB lights enough that I think using the calcium plus daily would be way, way over doing it.

Of course, you have to figure out what would work best based on your particular circumstances though!

What brand do you all use? Rep-Cal? Repashy? What brands do you swear by?

I like Mineral-O by Sticky Tongue Farms for my vitamin free calcium (and other minerals) supplement.

Im less concerned about a vitamin supplement since I gutload well. I've used Rep-cal Herptivite with success. Currently using Repashy Calcium Plus (NOT daily) and its fine too.

Thanks all.

Right now I've been using the Repashy SuperCal NoD.

Is that sufficient?

Is this the Rep-cal people use for every day dusting? Would you recommend it over the Repashy I'm using?

You might need a supplement with Vitamins, including D3. What type of chameleon do you have? What feeder prey do you offer and how do you gutload? Is the chameleon kept outdoors with access to sunlight, or indoors? if indoors, how do you provide UVB?

I just bought a baby (around 2 months old) from Tinley Park 2 weeks ago. He is a veiled.

Right now I have the Repashy SuperCal NoD I've been using every day.

For multivitamins, I have Rep-Cal Herptivite.

For calciuim with D3, I have Flukers calcium powder. I already had this since I use it for my red-eyed tree frogs.

I've been feeding reptiworms, dubia cockroaches as well as crickets. I gutload with carrots and mustard greens right now. I also put some whole grain oatmeal in with the roaches. Also use some Repashy Superload now and then.

No outside exposure for my cham. I use a Reptisun 5.0 for the UVB.

Would you recommend me changing any of this? Thanks a bunch!

(gonna read your blogs now) ;)

Also, I should add, he's kept in a 16x16x36 ReptiBreeze right now, so the UVB passes thru the top screen. Is that ok?

I used to use the exo-terra calcium and vitamins but I've recently switched to the Repashy Calcium plus all-in-one powder as it is a lot easier.

Repashy

I used to use the exo-terra calcium and vitamins but I've recently switched to the Repashy Calcium plus all-in-one powder as it is a lot easier.

I also recently switched to Repashy Calcium plus as well. All in one powder with calcium and necessary vitamins and minerals. Whats not to like? :)

This stuff? And if you use this every day, you don't have to use any other calcium (with D3) or multivitamin, at all?

Thats what it is advertised as. Some people have no problems with it, some people do (chams get sick/die) but so far, I dont know of any cases of death that have been proven to be from it. Either way, I personally feel that my gutloading and care are sufficient enough that I dont need to use an all in one product daily. I use supplements as just that, a supplement to the food/gutload they are already getting. It should be precautionary, not a neccessity.

They make a LOD (Low vitamin D) version of Repashy Cal PLus, that is what I use 3-4 times a week and then I use regular sticky tongue farms cal without d3 every time I don't use that. I had the same problem as you a while back trying to figure out the optimal supplement situation and I found that there are a million ways to skin a cat. but majority either rep-cal without d3 every feeding and rep-cal herptivite 2x a month with cal+ d3 or repashy like I just said.

But honestly I think your fine if you use the regular Repashy Calcium plus if that is what you already have. Reptiles can't get gout or anything like that off too much D3, I know a lot of people use that exclusively with success.

They dont get gout, but the D3 is stored in the fat and cannot be easily removed so they can overdose. Same with vit A, so you need to have the proper balance of vitamins or health problems can occur.

You have everything you need already then :) Repashy SuperCal NoD, Rep-Cal Herptivite and Flukers calcium with D3 can be used quite successfully.

your gutloading could use a little improvement, but for supplements you need not change a thing

I agree.

and I would not recommend Repashy Calcium Plus used daily. Once weekly is sufficient.

hopping onto this thread. I plan to use the repashy products as well was wondering if what im planning is good. Was planning on using repashy supercal no d most feedings. calcium plus low d maybe once a week

Would i use the regular calcium plus, or the low d? and once a week or twice a month?

thanks

One a week of loD should be fine, but be sure to figure out what works best for your situation. You may later decide the change it a bit when/if you learn more about nutrients and vitamins.
