Best roach alternative?

Thank you for posting the link. Never ordered from reptilesupplyco, but a couple years ago I ordered a good amount of cork from neherp. I always liked their selections of things.

Yep NP, Reptile supply co was good with me. It did take them awhile to ship I think it was like 2 weeks, but in their defense thats a lot of cork bark. They did tell me that it may take awhile, it was a case, they took I think 2 panels out of. The box was for the case for a store lol. Not alot of people buy 12 of them panels I reckon lolol.

I wonder what their reaction would have been if I would of told them it was for 1 cage lolol. DIY cages with naturalistic background are EXPENSIVE.

Haha, can never have enough cork bark! I have 20 something feeder colonies. Makes a great substitute for egg flats in the bio bins.

Easy way, explain to her.

Crickets can infest your house, the roaches can't.
Crickets smell, the roaches don't.
Crickets make noise, Roaches don't.
Crickets can and will escape, Roaches don't.

That ought to wrap that up. If not, get roaches and say they are beetles, your wife and his parents think roach they think American cockroach, that's not what your getting. Show them, it's not that, or lie and say it's a beetle of some type :).

Besides, my wife hated the idea of roaches, she still hates the orangeheads. But she likes the Hissers more than I do. She says those are her roaches now. She likes to see the babies and say "Look they have a little family".

I have also been exploring starting a Ghost Mantid Colony, and now she wants her own Orchid Mantids. You might be surprised, if you start getting bugs, she might start liking bugs too.
I do like the idea that they can't climb out of the smooth keeper tub.

I'm hoping for the don't ask don't tell resolution :)

Even if they could, it's not that bad TBH.

My Hissers are supposed to be able to climb smooth surfaces, I use to use a Vaseline line but I took it off. They don't try to escape, unless I am in there messing with stuff, with a proper lid they can't anyway, and even when they try, they don't climb glass that well. They usually get about half way and slip and fall back down.

Maybe that's not the case for plastic, but I have not seen them much try to escape tbh. Why would they, they are social they want the colony, they want their food, if they are fat and well fed, they ain't going nowhere lol.

Shameless plug - but hit me up if ya'll need cork bark. I can get pretty large and unique pieces.
