Best UVB all in one bulb for bearded dragon?

Hello, I'm good with my Cham stuff (for now) , but am looking for some advise on an all in one UVB/heat lamp/ light for my sons bearded dragon.

I had a Exxo-Terra Solar glow light, but it lasted all of two days. Money down the drain.

What would be recommended or a single bulb? Or did I just get a dud and should buy another one? I would return the one I got, but it was part of a kit from a reptile show purchace, so I won't be seeing that seller again probably.

I always used a long linear Repti-sun 5.0 UVB light for my beardies and a regular incandescent household bulb in a hood for heat...wattage that produced the appropriate temperature.

Why do you want an all in one bulb?

Simplicity for my son to take care of. He would probably not notice or remember a separate UVB bulb or notice if it goes out if the heat lamp is still on. He did notice that his main and only bulb is out.

I thought for BD you need UVB 10.0?

I used a 5.0 and mine lived for over 10 years with no issue...but many do use a 10.

Hmm,,,good point. Funny how the Solar Glo doesn't mention the rating 5.0 OR 10.0, but it definitely has a bearded dragon on the box lol

Just read on another thread that the difference between the zoomed 5.0 and 10.0 is the distance the UVB reach. So if you have a low enclosure for your BD, 5.0 should be enough.

I'm in USA, Michigan. My local reptile shop gave it to me today after my flukers went out for the 2nd time in 4 months!! Apparently Flukers is not making their products in the US anymore & my shop switched suppliers to a more reputable company. It is supposed to be outstanding! 10,000 hours use! If you are not able to find a pet store that carries try eBay, amazon or google?

I'd probably use something like a 75Watt - 100 Watt Solar Raptor HQI/mercury vapor flood lamp.
Solar Raptor is a very good brand and always ends up high in the score chart. Megaray is also a good brand.

Most 100Watt lamps require 40-50cm from spot to animal, most 75Watt would take a 30-49 cm from spot to animal (depending on output).

Just be careful that you either buy a selfbalasted lamp or purchase the ballast as well.

I'm using a 75Watt vapor Reptech lamp for my ackie, but I'm pretty sure Reptech is a Dutch brand so not available in the US.

I'll have to book mark that. The cost isn't hateful, but it's somewhat pricey. It's also in Seattle WA, meaning either $$ for shipping or long time to ship I need one relatively soon.

I ordered another Solar Glo from Amazon. ($30 with free Prime shipping) I'll give it another try until I can search out the Solar Bright for the next light or get one ordered as a back up.
