If he is starting to nibble/chew/bite on the fake leaves, it might be best to take them out of the enclosure and replace them with live plants. Veiled chameleons do try to eat vegetation in their enclosure (fake or not) once they start to reach sexual maturity.
If he ingests fake plants, it could lead to impaction which could have serious implications for his health.

A mean chameleon is a healthy chameleon! A ripped up finger is still just a ripped up finger! :)

Sound like you have your very own monster in a cage lol (kinda of corny) aggression means he is healthy be happy, dont get bit lol.

ok wont bit just curiose how much it hurts lol im a nuttah i know lol but how do i get him out now lol k got to find something hang across top get a vive or something prob get new cage soon i tried posting new pics bt they saying there too big is annoying i want to show use.:)

try to keep all your fingers together or wear gloves whe handling your super diesel chams... as your cham grows, his bite can become shockingly hard, if he clamps down on a pinky or something small, he can get a load of jaw leverage and you will sit there and almost have to hurt your cham to get him off you, this is not a good situation to put yourself in or to teach your cham your a big pussywillow when he taunts you, as he'll just find it a successful technique in delaying being handled.

I havn't been bit in awhile and the other day I was bit, of course out of reaction i jumped and ripped my arm out of the cage, with a cham still attatched, from this I'm reminded to always wear gloves when handling the diesel guys and keeping all my fingers together if not so if he does try to bite he can't single out my little pinky:D

not so fast

years ago when i first heard about different chameleons
The common wisdom was all the usual stuff that
I'm sure everyone else has whispered into their ears.

You can't touch them
You can't stare at them
They freak out and won't eat if they see you
They will die if you take them out of their cage
they only can life 3 months
etc.

needless to say that was all really BS

I've had some very different panther personalities so far
including one panther that was so "scared" / aggressive
that I couldn't touch him and had to get him out of the bag
after the show by letting him actually bite down on one of my fingers
lifting him out like a game fish on a hook.

It took some time, some bleeding bite marks... and a good pare of gloves
but he finally got the idea. "The hand isn't such a bad thing"

Part of his problem was that he was a hold back from another breeder
seems like he was never handled for the first 6+ months of his life.
I had to undo all that instinct and "learning"

I really just needed to learn how to approach him in a certain way
and then have him get used to the idea that "everything is going to be OK".
Now I can take him out of the cage without a problem
He's still a little unsure about himself
but he's no longer aggressive,
For example, I've got no problems with taking him out in public.
