black markings?

I've noticed over the past week or so that my 5 month old veiled gets little black marking on his legs and body that come and go. It literally looks like someone scribbled on him with a ball point pen. It seems to happen after he's gotten mad & has calmed down to his usual green, except for these black markings that take longer to fade. Everytime it happens, I think he's been scratched, or burned or something. Is it normal?

oh, these are like scratches...I don't know what he could have scratched against. Unless he did it whilst shedding?

I think he may also have had a fall, but I didn't see it happen. I just found his feeding cup on the floor of his cage & I suppose he could have gone down with it.

Also when he's completely calm & happily basking, they're not visible.

they go away after a while. they do happen sometimes. the mister went off and started our female and she ran across the cage and hit a few things on her way so she has some bruses.

I took him out & there were no dark markings to be seen! odd, I'll see if they reappear at all over the next few days

Here are 2 of the black markings. usually they are lines though. Sorry for the photo quality- he was not happy with the camera.

um...the third one is just cos I like that he's claimed the cat's scratching post.

oh cool, thanks :) he's changed colour since his last shed, his patterns are more complex so I wondered if maybe it was part of his patterns
