black patch on skin that wont go away.

Ok so Corvo has had a black spot on his chin right under his bottom lip that has been there for about a week. I actually posted a thread that was pertaining to the same thing but nobody answered my question. So i was just wondering if this is a vet-worthy problem. His tongue functions normal and there is no discoloration on the inside of his mouth. Just on the outside.He is a very healthy cham, it might be a burn, but i checked the temps and they are perfect. He might have fallen though, can chameleons be bruised??

i fed him meal worms for a few days, along with the staple crickets i give him.

I can't tell from the pics. It could be a sore from mesh rubbing. It could also be a bruise. Finally, it could also be markings. Some Veiled chameleons get dark black markings.

If I had to guess, it looks like a sore. I am on my phone, so the images might be clearer on a PC.

It looks like rostral rubbing, you should feed him silkies they will help with healing

Also using neo poly bac ointment on the area will help for now.

It looks like rubbing to me too. Check to see if thats where he rests his chin when he is sleeping. If so, you may want to switch out the branch.

Its from rubbing his face on the screen..

My panther girl did the exact same thing.

She rubbed it raw till the point it bled.

YOu need to add more stuff in his cage, or get him a bigger cage, as we have seen some chams do this when they are cramped.

Eventually it will heal, but I would put some Neosporin on it, and keep an eye out for infection.

ANd he may have a scar there for the rest of his life.

Change to a nylon mesh.. I had because my veiled would rub really bad whe he shed and it didn't look to bad on his chin but it caused an abscess... Which is much harder to deal with. Have a vet look at it ASAP

Strange... I came here looking for an explanation for a very similar issue with a black spot on my veileds chin. He has a pretty excellent free range set up in my sun room so cage size shouldn't be an issue (although he does have access to a a nylon cage as well in that room).

It may be pure coincidence but the spot showed up just a couple days after I began feeding him superworms as occasional treats. Perhaps someone will come along with an alternate hypothesis to rubbing on the cage.

Edit: I am not saying he isn't rubbing on the cage, that too is a good possible explanation.
