Black spots on my chameleon?

It has been about 3 weeks that my chameleon has had some black markings on parts of his spine and side. At first I was very worried and looked into to it. I saw that it could possibly be burns or bruises so I gave it some time to see if they would go away and heal. I moved my heat lamp up more so that it would be impossible for him to get any burns. He doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort and he is drinking and eating like always.

Could this possibly have anything to do with the supplements I feed him ( vitamin D3 and calcium with multi-vitamin) or could it maybe be a fungus of some kind. Could this be stress related? What is your supplement schedule for your chameleon?

I am starting to get worried again because it hasn't gone away. Thank you for reading this and helping me out!

Just had similar problem with my cham had black pigmentation on the side of his lip. I took him to my vet and he told me that he might have fallen pretty bad and hit the side of his face. It might take some time before his pigmentation gets back to normal. Vitamin a helps. Just as supplementation. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I could see black markings on the lip being a bruise but on the spine and side I wouldn't assume that is the cause, especially after three weeks. It is most likely a burn but without pictures it is really hard to tell. Would you be able to snap some pictures and post them here?

If it is a burn, depending on the severity it could take months to go away or the markings / damage might never go away. Minor burns usually disappear after a few sheds.

Thanks man! This helps a lot:)

We really need a pic to help tease this out. Yes, fungal infections and burns are both possibilities as its been so long. Bruises would have disappeared long before this.

If its some sort of untreated fungal infection the areas would probably be spreading by now. If the spots are the same size and in the same areas, may be a burn.

Hopefully this works:)
