Blackness??

Hi, I have not been on here in some time.
My cham "Shifty" is developing some blackness on his head and I wanted to know if this is cause for concern. I have not gone to the vet yet, but, he goes often. Looking for some outside opinions. Not female. Not eggbound. (Everyone seems to think that is the answer for everything)

LOL-I am not sure who would associate that with a female or gravidness! Now if you said black body...:)

Pics would really help here.

i have read a post on here that said blackness can be burns. it talked about a black spot on the casque and back of veiled that turned out to be sunburn.

I will try and get a pic up after work today, Thanks guys.
3 pet stores told me gravid....LPS are dumb sometimes.

Might be an injury. My cham developes black markings when ever she falls or overexerts while reaching for a branch or twisting her arm. The markings always occur in the spot and shape where the injury occured. My local exotics shop also has a panther with a malformed back due to something that happened in the egg. The rest of the colours come in fine, but the back is always black where the deformation is. I think there might be something causing an irritation or pain. (hope not but only a vet could tell you for sure)

Hey I am also from b.c i live about 1.5-2 hrs from you :) i also have a veiled, mine is a female.. :) uhm as for the black .. i do not klnow, i am fairly knew to this..

Ive heard... Burns from many people..

And... Sometimes when chams get to cold they go dark, to absorb heat (This is called 'Albedo') Uhm... i am not sure though.

Nice to know theres more cham owners on the island.

if its black above the eyes and the front edge of the casque from what i can tell its a pretty normal coloration- mine is getting it too.

Many males have black on their heads - as previously mentioned. Black scales are also a sign of dead skin, usually due to a burn. If you can post pics, that would be helpful. Usually, the casque, knees and back are what gets burned.

I am still trying to get a pic (camera is being repaired), the blackness seems to come and go. This makes me worry less as it may not be damage if it goes away.
