Blind baby?

I just hatched 3 baby Panthers within the last 3 weeks. 2 are doing fine, but one (who hatched from the largest egg), appears to be blind.

Right from the outset, she wasn't really growing, always seemed dark or black, & we never saw her eat. In the last few days, she got very thin & I noticed her eyes were completely different sizes. She also closes them a lot.

I've seen her reaching out into thin air, trying to grab onto something but nothing is there. Today she was right on the lid of the fruit fly culture I started in her enclosure , with fruit flies all around her, but never got one.

The breeder said there's really not much to be done. I even tried hand feeding, but she doesn't see it.

Has anyone ever come across this?

I assume with all species some creatures are born blind just like humans. It's really sad but I hope your baby gets better. Have you tried rubbing the food against her mouth?

Yes. I tried that. She's just hanging out at the top of the cage. She's been up there for at least the last 20 hours, not eating. I think it's only a matter of time. :-(

Try putting food in her mouth and dripping her nose with water or better yet buy some Fluker's Reptile- Boost and feed her that several times a day for a few days to boost her back up.
