Blood in her droppings.

Thanks Matthew.

She has had 3 shots so far and she seems to be doing a little better. There are 4 more to go.

She is now awake more through out the day. She's extending her tongue farther also.

This is a cut and paste of her conditions in my 1st post:

Watering - misting once a day, cool mist condensation drip twice a day for three hours, shower once a week.
Fecal Description - brown seemingly normal, at vet had very runny and stringy fecal today.
History - just got her 2 weeks ago.
Current Problem - Sleeping most of the day. slower moving than my male. eyes closed. heavy blinking. To eat she stick her tongue out and moves her head into the cricket. ??

Well I got her to the vet today without much revealed.

The vet doesn't think there is anything wrong with her eyes. She says that there is nothing visibly wrong with her anywhere. The fecal was to runny to do the more thorough test but the one she did didn't reveal parasites. Her weight is 32 grams. The vet gave her vits and a shot of fluids. I was given Baytril to administer twice daily. Wasn't given any eye meds because there didn't seem to be anything wrong there.

Do you think I should keep administering the Baytril through injection. I've read that that's hard on them.

The diarrhea happened at the vets and was passed off as her being upset from the visit. Her stools are more normal now but still have orange coloration.

Thanks again,
Kevin

Biggun, Could you update us on what info you found out about your cham. Do they have a diagnosis yet? If not, have you and the Doc narrowed down what could be wrong? This could benifit someone else with a similiar problem. David

David,

That last posting is about as up to date as it gets. I haven't spoke with Matthew yet. If he doesn't notice this thread before it's time for her shot tomorrow I might give him a call just to make sure. I've read that injecting Baytril can cause other problems and he did mention giving it to her orally.

Thanks for the concern.

I'll keep updating as things change.

Kevin

Wow... I thought you two may be PMing each other since he responded. Have you tried PMing him? I hope you get some answers. It's amazing how attached a person can get to a weird little green thing. You must be very worried, I would be. Good luck again and let us know if you hear anything. David

Hey,

I'd give your vet a call and ask. (Professional courtesy dictates that since I have not seen the animal, it would be wrong of me to change treatment.)

As I had said before, though, injectible baytril can be given by mouth and maybe less stressful. Your vet may have a reason to specifically give it injectably. Since your little cham is doing better, it seems that she has picked an appropriate regiment.

Matthew

Thanks for all the help!

She seems to be getting better but I don't know if she'll ever be 100%.
Her weight is up to 36 grams from a low of 30. She's awake most of the day and moving around more too. She does still need to eat from a container as she constantly misses to the left when shetries to hunt on her own.

My guess is that she may be partially blind.

I'll still keep the thread up to date.

Thanks again,
Kevin

HER POOP IS WHITE HER POOP IS WHITE!!!!!!!!!

Well brown but the urate is white! :D :D :)

Now if she could just learn to shoot her tongue.

Oh, well I'll be happy container feeding her for as long as it takes if it takes at all.

I wonder how or if she'll breed if she's partially blind?

Kevin

Have you watched her closely when she shoots her tongue? Is she pointing both eyes straight forward when she shoots or just one? Sometimes if they have something wrong with their eye like an infection, they will pull the one in that's bothering them. The vision may be fine, but because of irratation, they keep it in stopping them from being able to rotate the eye fully forward. Hope that makes sense to you. I went through this a few months ago with one of mine when I noticed his accuracy was way off. Glad she's much better. Keep us posted. David

I've started her on Terramycin. I'm gonna put it in right before lights out for 7 days and see what's going on. I hope it helps. I didn't know if the injectible Baytril would have helped the eyes or not and I didn't want to double medicate. Now that the Baytril's done I've started the Terramycin.

Thanks for the interest,
Kevin
