Blue bottle flies

Just received my first batch of pupae any i dea how long they take to hatch? I kept most of them in the fridge but put a few in a sealed Tupperware in my snakes cage under the heat lamp so its about 90 degrees. Am i lookin at hours, days, or a week till they hatch??

Mine took two weeks from fresh casters to flies. I bought maggots that tuned to casters in a few days. This was all at room temp.

Is 90 degrees too hot? Or will it help to hatch quicker?

Yep about 5 days from pupae to flies. Found they keep for about a week at a time on the BB fly food from mantidpets.com and I use the cricket water gel for hydration. My Jackson goes nuts for flies.

Im excited to see my chams reaction to the flies. Ive only fed him crix n butterworms im hoping he goes crazy for the flies

How long can you store pupae in the frig? I know its less time than larvae, but wondered what people have tried. I ordered pupae, that should arrive any day now and want to try to stagger their hatching.

I just matured some that I had for 5 wks and all grew into fliers no problem. From same vendor (mantisplace)

I got mine from tikitikireptiles.com 100 for $6 and they have small and large flies available. Took about 5 days for the first few to hatch sitting under heat lamp around 80-90 degrees

After they have hatched what do you keep them in till your chameleon is ready to eat all of them?

I try to time it so only 5-10 hatch at a time n just leave in the chams cage. Or just keep them in a Tupperware container

I ordered some Monday, they shipped wednesday.....still haven't arrived. I hope we dont end up with 500 hatched flies by the time they do arrive!!!! Ugh!

Yeah I purchased 500 larvae and received 495 pupae. I was told the pupae can live in the fridge for 3 weeks as pupae.

My blue bottle flies hatched last night. Gave them to the boys today and all I can say is WOW! Even our Jackson who isn't normally much of a hunter and tends to miss when he shoots his tongue went nuts. He was hunting so actively and shot his tongue so far....didn't miss a single one. It was such an awesome sight.

ive got some pupae in thr fridge. what do suggest i do with them? what was your procedure? thanks lisa
