Bonsai 'Money Tree' in Enclosure?

i've heard money trees are not safe. but i'd wait for someone w/ more experience with this plant to let you know for sure.

The thing usually sold as the "money tree" is _Pachira aquatica_. It has edible seeds, but I could find nothing indicating the leaves are a danger in the three most current references. Knowing that this has been a popular houseplant for many years, I would think it would appear in the literature if there were significant danger to children or pets.

It is in the Bombax family; there are many plants in this group that have edible flowers and leaves. Bombax sp. are native to much of the natural range of chameleons. Some people have a contact dermititis when wood-working with Bombax sp. timber.

Hmm, I don't want to take the risk so I am hoping someone who has used one in an enclsoure will chime in.

They had 3' trees for $20 at walmart, a little pricey but I love the braided stem, and the foilage it provides looks perfect for the cham.

I don't want to make a new thread for this, so I will ask here.

I found fake vines at the dollar store today, they look exactly like the bendable vines from petsmart but have leaves/foilage attached to them, would this be safe for my enclosure?

i also bough a bonsai tree and im going to do my research about it fist before i place it inj her cage and i would higly not recomend anything fake to placed in her cage because they temp to eat it when they r hungy or want water and u dont want no plastic in your little one tummy

Hit up home depot. They have the 3ft braided trunk ones for under 20.00 near me. Walmart here has them for 10.00 unbraided.

Those vines at the dollar store are made from paper and after getting wet I find they start coming apart. I have tossed the ones I had away. Get the good ones or go to a craft store like Michaels and get fake plants and vines from them. They hold up better and are easy to wash.

I had one with my jackson for the first 6 months i had him... no issues with it at all. However, if you have a species that are known " veggers"(veileds) I would say find something else.. I only say that because my jackson never ate leaves so i dont know if theyre safe, or not.
