Hey guys I am going to start breeding dubias soon and am getting the setup ready. Just wondering what type of heating source everyone suggests. I wanted to use a reptile heating pad but I am going to breed them in a plastic tub and the heating pad says to only use on glass. Any suggestions?

I just use a reptile heating pad anyway. :D

Just tune it down with a rheostat and you'll be fine. You can also use a human heating pad that's set on medium.

I use a heat pad under the tank. A therapeutic heating pad. If you decide on this, make sure and get the one w/o the auto-off feature...

I use an 11" wide x 8' long strip of flexwatt heat tape found at The Bean Farm. Its super cheap and does a great job. I have my Dubia in Rubbermaid containers that sit on a 2x8 plank of particle board. The flexwatt is sandwiched between the wood and the rubbermaids and it all sits on a wire shelf. Just attach a plug to one end of the flexwatt - also available at The Bean Farm - plug it into the wall and leave in on 24/7. The front 1/3 of the rubbermaids isn't heated - I put the food there.

I use a reptile heating pad. I use the small ones. They stay around 90 degrees roughly. I use 2 mats for my colony. They haven't melted my Rubbermaid container. Just make sure u get one that is Rubbermaid brand. They are thick and take heat well.
