Is anyone breeding locust? Just wondering how easy it is to do as my panthers (3) have a hell of an appetite now and would like to save some money. Not a fan of crickets and they don’t seem to be either. Dubai’s could be an option as well to mix it up a bit.

You can collect locusts right out of nature. The eggs ones from the colder states does need to be cooled down for about 2.5 months before they will hatch. The females deposits the eggs in to moist sandy soil. You can collect a bunch of the same kind from nature and feed them grasses, Romain lettuce etc. Keep them in a aquarium with a couple of inches of moist sandy soil. Once they all die off cool the entire aquarium down for 2.5 to 3 months. When you get it back to room air it should take abut 10 to 15 days to hatch.

I bet that if you keep them in a bare aquarium with just a little container (6x6 inches or so and about 3 inches deep) with a inch of sandy soil in the bottom. They will lay the eggs in the small container. That will be much easier to cool down than a entire aquarium. Lol

I am 100% sure that roaches are easier!!!
