Breeding my panther pair

Alright so i havent poste in awhile and i have a question. I have 2 panther chameleons the male is 5 months old and the female is about 8 months. They are housed together in a 29"x29"x48" reptarium with no problems so far. They have been together for about 3 months and are fine. I plan on breeding them and i wanted to know how old they have to be and since there are no problems would i be able to breed them in the same cage. I know that i will have to separate them and i am fine with that i was just wondering. Also sorry if this is in the wrong section

thanks,
mike

I would go ahead and seperate them now. Get them both their own screen cages and put a visual divider up between them. Put a laying bin in the cage with the female as she is already old enough to lay an infertile or in this case fertile clutch. Do you know what receptive colors she will flash when ready to breed? If not do some research and look at pics on here. Do you know if she's already been receptive once before, since shes already 8 mo old? She will prob be ready again soon. If you truly want to breed them then you have alot of reading ahead of you. Be prepared before hand dont learn on the fly.

alright thanks for the advice. i put in alot of details but i left out one pretty important one. that they are ambilobes. i do not know what receptive colors she will turn and what should i put into the laying bin. do u know any websites that have good advice

For a laying bin, I use a 15quart tub inside her cage with a mix of soil and sand filling the tub within an inch from the top. Make sure the soil/sand is moist enough to hold a tunnel and not cave in. Dont get it too wet. I also put some moist sphagnum moss on top of the soil/sand mix. She has laid 3 clutches in the last year without any issues. I have a pothos in her cage so I keep a couple of the vines draped over the laying bin so she has easy access. If you dont have vines put some branches leading to the bin so she can get in and out easily. Dimensions of the tub are 10" wide x 15" long x 10" tall. The tub was like $4 from walmart.

I would seperate them now. I would think it would be stressful for your female to lay eggs with a male around. When receptive she should be a pretty orange/pink.
