Breeding panthers

I'd watch the diet of that female you posted, she looks really fat for a chameleon. You don't want to girls to be over-eating too much of they will start laying big clutches for you, and she may live less in the long-run because of it. I try to keep mine lean because of that.

agreed!

my females get 4 crickets a day or the equivalent some days less they do not have to eat every day either every other is fine like 6 every other is a good diet

45 days is really long for a female to lay, its usually more like 30. Sexing is more accurate when you check for a hemipenal bulge in males. Colors are never a sure thing in young chameleons.

I agree, that female is really chubby. 3 crickets and a superworm a day is quite a bit of food. Try feeding her that amount every other day.

Maybe skip a day between meals and feed her every other day, or every other day. Mine get food about every other day unless they are young, and this helps keep them leaner. My fat male may only get food 3 times a week, and this has helped him shed the extra grams better.

Thanks, I will try 6 every other and see if it works, and maybe even shrink it if she is still fat.

6 every other is the same at 3 every day, so it's not really doing much. If you want her to lose weight, you have to reduce the food.

Or even increase her exercise as well. If you can be home to let her roam your bedroom or a big fake tree, all that helps. Sometimes getting them to move more helps them lose the weight, like in anything else.

I have put my fat male at the end of a hallway and had him walk his way back to his cage before. I'm not above making them move if I think it'll help them be in a better condition! lol

I will try that, can you post a pic of your male.

Here are some pics of him. You can see that his fat-pads and arms look pretty normal but he has a really round middle. My vet says that he needs to slim down that waistline, and we've definitely lost some weight. He looks more narrow now.

Depends how you diet him/her. The less you feed the faster it'll go, but since they have such a slow metabolism it can be weeks or months to lose the weight.

I have an adult female Nosy be that I want to breed. I also live in Riverview Florida. Your male is beautiful. Are you interested in breeding your male?

Thanks, I may consider it, when do you think she will be ready and what are the conditions of the arrangement?

I accept, but my only condition is that i get five of the neonates. You can keep the rest. She is nice and large, do you know the sire?

Are you experienced in incubating? I am not going to be able to incubate becuase I have another clutch that are going to be incubating soon.
