Technically they will cannibalize their young, they can't live together for prolonged periods of time and when the babies are born they are absolutely TINY. They will need to be sifted out within a week of being born if you don't have a way they fall through. Adult beetles will be less likely to cannibalize if you provide a constant source of MOISTURE, not food. They need moisture. But moisture should be in the form of a veggies/etc. Mold will kill young, I am not sure about mites, it depends on the mites you had. If they were purely grain mites, you have nothing to worry about, but if they weren't then they likely ate the babies as well. You need really good ventilation. They do better closer to 80 degrees, most people keep them at 78-80 degrees F. If you have to sift the eggs out you should use a very fine bedding for them and not course oats.
