Breeding Superworms

hey i just got my superworms today and i got One-minute 100% whole gain oats and grinded it up for the superworms but they seem to be getting stiffed and stop moving so im pretty sure there dying, i also just put them under a heating lamp 10 minutes ago and ive had them here for around an hour or two because i forgot they needed heat anyway thanks for any help i get.


Edit: most of the big superworms are still very active some small ones and one or two big ones arnt moving much but move a tiny bit when i grab them with the big tweezers.

ive looked threw other threads already and i dont see anyone talking about what you shouldnt use for superworms

Could be dehydrated Try putting a carrot in with the supers , they need hydration like all living things

theres already a chopped up carrot inside with them

I keep mine In a mix of mostly organic wheat bran and a little oat meal adding a little veggie once a week to hydrate

could it be that the grinded up tiny pieces of oatmeal are choking them to death or something of the sort because it is sticking to there faces and such

This is exactly what I do as well. You may need to get a larger container for large amounts of worms, but I wouldn't bother making the powder. I don't think I have ever lost a worm using this method. I have not tried breeding them though.

Any dust or powder will plug their spiracles and they cant breathe. I raise a ton on them in damp peat moss and wheat bran. Adults need a water, larvae do not.

yes i know this i have a different container for them to pupate, do they need a heat source when they are pupating alone or no?
