Could someone tell me which of these 3 are male and which are female? I lost on of my 4 and can only put these 3 together if I have 2 females one 1 male. Need to determine if 2 tanks are needed. Thanks

First is male and last is female. That second one is hard to tell. Which ones did I send you? :)

Juli you sent me the first 2. But if the second one is female then all is well. Since we are not sure should I take the undecided:( little one out until it decides which sex it wants to be?

They are probably not yet fighting at this age, but I am thinking I owe you a female the more I stare at that second one. That first one looks like it's Dad! The tail on the second one makes me thing female and being so young I am thinking it's head just has not developed as much as the first one.

Now you have me confused. How could you possibley own me a female if I have 2 females and one male? That means the one I lost was a male or I would have 2 males & 2 females right? So it looks to me like no harm no foul.:D

Hi Laurie,
With brevs you can't always go by tail length. I have had females with tails just as long as some of my males. One thing to watch out for is coloring up in males. They are still young, but if i had to guess, I would say that the first one is a male, middle one looks like it could go either way but maybe a long tailed female, third one pretty sure is a female. The first one has very green eye turrets already which could be the beginnings of coloring up for display. Check out these pics of mine, they might give you a better idea:

These two are males coloring up:

This male was displaying for a female:

This shot you can see the long tail in this young male:

And here is an example of a female with a longer tail:

Also, look at the ridges on the males backs in these pics that aren't as large in females. Hope this helps.
