Broken leg?

Hey to anyone reading this- my 5 month old, male, amilobe Panther, Kiwi, seems to have a broken leg. He still uses it but there is a bump on top of his elbow and it looks curved instead of just having one point. However, this is not the part that concerns me as I know many times elbows will heal more easily- above his elbow however, underneath his arm is something else poking down a bit. The top of his arm is thin so it almost looks like the arm bone or tendon that connects to the body is disconnected and has fallen down. Anyway, I took him to a vet today who is supposed to be knowledgable about reptiles and he said it would heal on it's own. I'm sure the elbow will but do you really think the upper part will and that there is nothing that should be done? Idk if I should take him somewhere else or not. Anyone ever experienced their chameleons breaking their legs? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Aubrey

No pictures ,no help. I need to see things to even consider offering advice.

Also I'm sure somebody else will come along and ask you to fill out the "help" form so solid information can be given to you.

You came to the right place but you do have another hoop to jump through. :)

Chameleon - 5 month old male amilobe chameleon. Been in my car for about two months
Handling - Probably every other day or two
Feeding - medium crickets and large mealworms from the pet store. Gutload crickets with carrots and apples (plan on adding kale next)
Supplements - Sibze I've had him from the beginning I disted every other meal with Herptivite and calcium with D3. Now I have been dusting every meal with plain calcium and only using the other two occasionally.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? I use the Big Dripper with repti safe water conditioner that I leave on all day long. I mist about 3-5 times a day. And if I've noticed that he hasn't gone to the Dripper I give him water from a syringe which he always drinks.
Fecal Description - wet, dark balls stranded together with white at the end.
History - My cham is very young and I don't know anything from before he was shipped to me.

Cage Info: Repti-Breeze XL 24x24x48 screen with plastic half way up on two sides.
Cage Type -
Lighting - I'm using one long UV light with a heat lamp with an exo terra 100W bulb for heat. These two lights are on from 8am-11pm. Used to also have an exo terra 75W purple night heat lamp that comes on at 11pm and turns off at 8am, but I have since removed it.
Temperature - 80-85 basking spot, about 76 degrees in center, and 72 at bottom. I measured these with a Zola automatic thermometer where you press the button and read the number.
Humidity - Honestly, I don't know what the humidity levels are, I just always have the Dripper running and make sure to spray often.
Plants - I use artificial plants: silk and plastic hanging leaves with medium and large fluker's bend a branches and two real branches that have been treated.
Placement- my cage is not in a high traffic area. It's about 3ft off the ground. There is a vent about 5ft away but there is plastic covering that side of the cage and air doesn't ever directly blow out of that vent. We keep the house at 70 degrees.
Location - North Carolina

I don't know if you can see what I'm talking about from the pictures or not, but it's the upper underneath part of his leg that I'm the most concerned about and wondering if this can really move back up where it should be without any medical assistance

I don't know a darn thing about your vet. If they are not a Herp vet I'd go find one. That upper area toward the armpit is what you are talking about right? It's hard to tell with the two photos but it looks busted to me. That might need some attention. Maybe one of our forum vets will chime in but at the least I would say make sure you take it to a Herp vet and not just one of the ones who "see reptiles" of which there are many out there.

Okay, thank you. And yes that is the area I'm talking about. I'm not sure if there are any strictly herp vets around my area. Would I just find out by googling it?

I would suspect (looking at your pics) that he did or does have some MBD type problems going on, which may have led to the fracture. The two legs I can see look curved with that "double joint".
