I just learned another valuable lession. It appears I left my male and female baby cham together too long! They are just under 5 months old and I was keeping one male and 2 females from my first clutch together. I saw the male on top of the female about 2 weeks ago, and seperated them at that point but now the female is showing colors she is pregnant! She is way too young. Is there anything I can do to try and save her?

All you can do is let nature take it's course. Separate them immediately, and get a laying bucket in with her.

Thanks I was afraid of that. What are the chances she and the eggs will make it? I had read cutting down on the food may help the clutch size is that OK to do with her age?

Ditto.

I wouldn't call it trying to save her. He didn't inject her with poison. She will be just fine. Like Julie said get a laying bucket in there and get ready for some eggs.

Don't cut down on her food while she is gravid. She is still growing and will need the extra boost along with the egg prodcution. After she lays you will want to cut back. Make sure she gets a little extra cal.

Edit : do you know how much she weighed prior to being gravid or how much she weighs now?

No I do not what her weight was but it is now 1.3oz. Ok I will not cut back on food and will increase calcium but she gets it every day now. It may not be poision, but at her age is she not likly to die after laying?

Yes, There is an increased risk at a younger age but is not a death sentence. It happened , IMO calling it more than what it is only complicates things. Treat it as any other panther that is going to lay eggs. If she was not sexually ready there will be no eggs. If she is ready there will be eggs and nature will take care of things.

She is near 40 grams , not the best size but not a baby either.

ok thanks for your help! I will keep my fingers crossed. It must have been the Spring air that did it!

LOL that will do it.

I have had this happen to me a while back. Not siblings but I thought I could keep 2 of them together longer than I should have. I ended up with 22 healthy babies 8 months later.

Not the way I wanted things to happen but they happened and everyone got threw it. You can't do anything now but wait and keep your husbandry 100%.
