Brutus Fell; not hurt, but mad.

Brutus, (my Panther chameleon) fell off the roof of his cage today. I was going my makeup on my vanity, (right next to his xl cage) and he was climbing on top of the roof. (I've already wrote forums about him patrolling and crawling on the roof and they says it's a teen thing) Anyways, he's hanging off the top of the roof and falls from the top. Luckily, he caught himself on a branch. He looked stunned. He literally sat in the same place for 10 minutes. I felt bad and wanted to check on him and reached my hand in the cage and he puffed up SO BIG and almost bit me,(he's NEVER even puffed up before) so I misted his cage, and left for the day. When I got home it was past his bedtime and my automated timer turned his lights off so I didn't get to check to see if he was active. I'm just worried.

Check him tomorrow. As long as he didn't break anything or cut himself where an infection could set in, he should be fine. It's not a shocker that he got defensive with you after his fall. He was startled and was not in the mood for anything else to deal with.

Chances are he will be fine.. In the summer I let my Cham's out on my front porch to get natural Sun.. The one will nose dive about 8 ft off a hanging pothos to the ground if he's in view of a female just to try and get her.. Luckily never broke anything.. Falling to the forest floor in the wild is actually a defense mechanism.. They take a fall better than you would expect lol.. It's only when they have mbd you really have to worry then bones snap like it ain't a thannnnggg

My guy fell multiple times trying to climb his cage at the juvenile stage to where I had to place bubble wrap at the bottom. Luckily, he did not injure himself. I had to add more branches/vines all over so he would stop climbing the walls of the cages.
