I just picked up some Repashy Bug Burger feeder insect diet. Did I just waist $20??? I still plan on using fresh fruits and vegetables but I just wanted a good base.

Thanks,
Virginia:D

I use it. I'm thinking of using it dry (on some greens) to see if it works better this way. I've heard some say that the crickets like it better this way. :)

Not at all, From what i've heard feeders go nuts for that stuff...

It's a good 2-in-1 source for food/water. I have it myself but i haven't used it yet. Maybe I'll try it out today haha. You're supposed to read the instructions and mix it with water, then microwave it or something. Ends up looking like a burger patty.

You can also try sandrachameleons dry gutload which you would make yourself, DinoFuel, and Cricket Crack. DinoFuel & CricketCrack are great, i just dust the fruits/veggies and the feeders eat everything also you don't have to microwave it or anything.

One of the other senior members also recommended it, though I can't find the original post (sorry!)

Other great sources of information are the following blog and a couple of threads discussing gutloading for various insects:

I've been making note of those threads and the blog . . . getting ready for the big day!

Good luck!

Bug Burger is great, my crickets chow down on it. It is chaulk full of nutrition and makes a great complement to veggies.

I like to have veggies plus a dry gutload for my crickets/roaches at all times. I always feed it dry, in my experience my crickets don't much like the gel form, but swarm around a tray of this powder.

Thats good to know, So you've had zero problems using the bug burger as a "dry" gutload? I was just weary of using it like that thinking it may cause the crickets to become dehydrated since the bug burger absorbs water/expands. But i've seen allot of others use it dry, just never bothered with it.
