building plans for wood shop??

im looking to make a 2x2x3 cage in wood shop just wondering if anyone has plans for a fancy cage? i built a 2x2x4 last year and woodshop teacher wont do let me do it unless i step it up. my last cage was just frame with screen sides and 2 doors. hopefully this is the right link to it http://www.thezillaman.webs.com its in photo gallery

Find a way to build a tower that houses all the equipment. For example lights on top built into a box so you can't see the lights, drainage at the bottom with a drawer and a feeder drawer with built in heat and fans. Run all the electrical from the back with dimmers and timers. This is what I am trying to think out in my head before I start to plan it. Just an idea.

If you make 4 sides that can be fitted with screen and make one side the door the rest is astetic anyway. Use some 1x2 trim with a routed edge on the top of the cage to create a crown moulding effect. Build in a drainage system under some petscreen on the bottom and put legs made of 2x2 oak or something nice and you have a furniture quality screen cage. The basics of a cage shape are all you need, just use better material like oak lumber for all the rails and maybe do an arch for the top horizontal rail on the door.

newcage I built for spock in the video. I could have used nice oak or maple and stained and polyurethaned it but I chose to use scrap plywood with some solid lumber and spray paint.

Here is an idea for the drainage. Just modify to fit the cage dimensions of the cage and use nice material for the legs. You could make a small cabinet under the cage that holds the drain bucket.
