Bulging eye

i just got a new veiled chameleon and he keeps bulging his one eye and rubbing it on the branches. It’s 85 under the heat lamp and we have a linear bulb across the back. Started gutloading crickets with greens and carrots yesterday. All he eats is pinhead crickets. Here is a picture of his new cage as of today and his eye.

It's possible that he has something stuck in it (old shed or debris of some kind). I would try giving him a nice long misting to help him flush the eye as a first step

What @Syreptyon said... He's likely trying to clean out his eye so mist him for a few minutes to let him do that.
He also looks a bit skinny to me, this may also be due to unsufficient hydration so you may need to up the duration of daily mistings altogether.

We were misting it a lot but noticed that the water evaporated before he could get it. We just got a mister the other day and we now have it set. So he should now have plenty of water. I also was gutloading the crickets with just apples. As of the 3 days ago we started gutloading with greens and carrots.

Glad to hear you got a mister, but you will likely need to hand mist him to make sure the water actually reaches his eye. Otherwise he'll likely just scurry away from the automated mist instead of sitting under it to get the job done

Is it just me or is he looking a bit thin? Dont get me wrong but he does look a little lean. Guys please correct me if im wrong

they are bad. Low nutritional content and to hard to digest. Also they can bite your cham.

Meal worms are terrible food... Very low in nutritious value and their shell is thick and can lead to constipation.
Get supwerworms instead, softer shell and higher nutritious value but even these should be used as a treat and are not suitable as staple.

Silkworms would be good good, often very much appreciated by the chameleon and also high in nutrition.
Wax worms are a good treat but pretty fatty too.
Phoenixworms (Calciworms) are good food but are like crawling buggers, once they find a bit of moisture they go everywhere. You can just keep em dry and once they pupate you can also feed off the flies.

Also hornworms r good for fattening them up but don’t give them loads and I love butterworms the key is to give them different types of feeders so he can have a balanced diet. Meal worms are awful. I totally agree with misting
