my chameleons lips are kind of out of place if you know what i mean. they dont come down perfectly on each other.. theyre a little off.....not sure how to explain this but please try to picture it.....he eats a lot of superworms.....
Without a lot more information and a pic its really hard to understand what you are describing. If you mean the cham can't close it's lips correctly because its jaw seems deformed or soft, this is a sign of calcium deficiency or Metabolic Bone Disease. Please describe your lighting (including brand and age!), your cage setup, what you gutload your feeders with, what supplement dusts you use in detail.
If the lips are discolored, red, there are sores on the gumline or patches of whitish cheesy material inside the mouth, this is stomatitis or mouth rot. You will need a vet to prescribe antibiotics to fight the infection.
I had a recurring problem witha wc deremensis a few years back. Swollen lips. I believe it was, in fact, Carlton who suggested avitamin C problem. This guy had recurring oral abscesses along with the swelling. I had kept his vitamins limited to just d3, for fear of giving too much. I upped the supplementation with herptivite, and within a few weeks, the problem was gone.
In fact, if you look in my photos, one of my p pics shows this. The little guy that los like he was smiling at the camera - the swelling was there on the pc. It was minor, either going away or just about to get worse - I can't remember!
I am really glad to hear that the vit C helped Eric! I had started increasing it for jackson's who were prone to temporal gland infections and it did seem to help.
