You cannot really tell from the pic, but from what you are describing it sounds like edema. It seems chams are prone to get it in that area for whatever reason. It is an accumulation of fluid in the tissues, same as humas get. There are many speculations as to what causes it such as over supplementation but I don't think there has been any concrete evidence on this. I had a chameleon that had it for almost 4 yrs. I tried everything under the sun to cure it to no avail. He came to me like that and it never went away permanently. It will come and go and increase and decrease in severity. If you search the forum for Edema you will find many threads on this issue. His fat pads look unusually large from that pic. Is it jus the pic angle?

Should I take him to the vet at all he is healthy in every other way he eats drinks fine poo is good he moves about all the time I do supplement him with rapashy calci powder every 2 days an gut load with rapashy gut loader

I agree with the edema. My guy shows it sometimes. I'm going to take him into the vet next week just to see what he says. I've read it could be too much vitamin A. But it doesn't seem like that's a guarenteed answer reading other threads.

Honestly, there is nothing they can do. It is up to you if you want to have him checked out. My vet said there is no cure for it. I was told give him plenty of water, sun, I changed up diet, gutload, supplementation and it never goes away completely. Somedays it would look as if it was gone and then it was back again. Like I said it cannot hurt to have him checked out, but it probably is a waste of money. His fat pads do look really big still!!! What they heck is he eating!?

I only feed him locusts that's it he eats between 3-5 every 2 days depends on him what's the best thing I can do to sort it pls

Just wanting to know u said to change diet so should I go to crickets instead of locusts an use a diff calci powder an gut loader to try to manage the problem ty

So i took him to my local reptile shop i go to who have a chameleon specialist an they checked him over an said he was in perfect condition an that his pads were not fat just as they should be and that the bump was just a bit of loose skin just thought id update u all thank u all for ur comments and help with this as well much appreiciated

Fat pads not as fat as they should be? Maybe it is your camera, but they look huge! As far as what you described, it sounded like Edema as that is usually where it settles in on the chameleons for whatever reason. Your picture did not really clearly show edema. I still don't know if I agree with the fat pads or your chameleon expert!

Yeah those fat pads are definitely big.

lol im happy with my chameleon expert they have never steered me wrong in everything with him an he cant be fat because i dont feed him enough to be fat hes spot on for his age and size an i trust my expert he has 30 years experiance with panthers chameleons :)

Hey no problem! If you are confident that everything is ok, then that is all that matters. Just take a look though at numerous panthers on here and you will see, their pads do not normally look like that.

Mrdeedubb: Carol has given you good advice. You are here asking questions to a problem and getting good responses. What did your expert say about the lump under the arm pit?

i know carol has given me good advice look at my previous posts i have thanked her more than once an do appreiciate the advice given more than u know as i love my boy rango an am very cautious of anything that looks different to me thats why i asked on here b4 i took to my expert an yes carol i totally understand what u are saying about the pads but i dont over feed him is all im saying an he said the bump was just some skin hanging but if i notice it get bigger to see a vet although by the look an feel of it he thnks it should be ok :)

hope u have taken no offense to anything i have said carol i really do appreiciate ur advice given to me an thank u just dont get why his pads are big when i dont over feed him i took a look at pics an do see what ur saying:D

The lobes arent necessarily fat storage but they are retaining fluid quite possibly due to edema. As carol stated before, i would look deeply into your supplement schedule, gut loading, types of feeders and if i were you i would investigate what is being fed to the bugs before you receive them.
