Yesterday when feeding my female veiled a superworm the worm bit me, and when I fed it to her it appeared to bite the side of her mouth as well. She used a vine to knock the worm off her lip. Today when I saw her, the area where the worm appeared to bite her was swollen. It doesn't appear to affect her eating. Do you think she needs to be taken to a vet? Also does anyone have any reccomendations for a vet in Pittsburgh? I'll upload pictures of the swollen side and the other side for comparison!

@jannb will probably know of a vet...she is great with helping with that information as soon as she see's this. If it were my cham I would have it checked by a vet because it could have an infection or abcess started and will need medicine only a reliable exotic/reptile vet can give.

You are quite welcome...and welcome to the forum. Lots of great people willing to help you give your cham the best care possible. She is very pretty.

Pretty little girl. Did a superworms bite her? Poor baby those bites hurt and so does the hornworm bite. You can smash the superworms head before you feed them.

I’d keep an eye on her and if it doesn’t go away in a day or two I’d take her to the vet. It’s a good idea to get to know a reptile vet anyway for fecals and regular check ups.

Here’s a list of reptile vets in PA and I know of one more near Reading that’s not on the list if you are close to there.

Thanks for the list! I live in Pittsburgh and there are two on the list that are on the other side of the city. A new exotic vet just joined the practice where I take my cats so I may try that one first and if not try the others if she doesn't take chams. And yeah the little sucker bit me before biting her right on the lip. I'm hoping the swelling goes down soon!
