Busted!!

So I walked downstairs a few hours ago to find Fuego on top of Bonsai's cage. I will post photos for reference, I have no idea how this happened. I SWEAR I made sure his cage door was shut. Is it possible he could have opened it himself? He would have to push up on it. Then he had to go down on the floor, walk over and up the cage? I just don't get it, has anyone ever had this happen? I want to make sure it doesn't happen again!

you can use a clothing hanger clip to keep it shut and its very easy to take on and off.

Ha ha that is hilarious.

I always used little metal lanyard hooks (metal snap hook) on that type of cage for birds. They have no sharp edges and if a Conure can't open that I doubt a Chameleon can...

unless he is super smart

Well if he is super smart (and not just regular smart) a pad lock is the only thing you can do.

Haha I don't think he's smart at all with a little Boston Terrier running around who would love to have him for lunch! She already ate the canary so...yeah, I need to keep him safe. I just never thought he could figure out how to open the door. My 9-year-old said she saw him pushing on the door but she IS only 9 so she could be exaggerating:(

I have a house full of cats, Chameleon cage security is VERY important in my home!

Get a Lanyard hook, they are a couple bucks if you find an expensive one and they are worth it.

he is so beautiful so don't let anything happen to him!!!

Thank you Carol for always saying nice things about Fuego! I am concerned about the dog, so now I need to rethink things, I KNOW I shut that door. I'll come up with something. There are about 6 of those doors on the cage that open the same way.

I can see a chameleon accidentally opening the door and slipping out. He probably held onto it and moved his arm around and it opened!

I have one down stairs I took because he has a "problem". You bet he does, twice that little *** ok I will just say cham, has gotten out of his cage with it still locked. Regular screen cage, I have no idea how he does it. And Seeco said he is blind in one eye - let me tell you, one of those eyes works really well.

My handmade cage right now has no doors and my girl is completely satisfied and hasnt let it..... yet. May be a completely different story about my guy when he gets moved to his new cage. I have a 3y/o, 2 dogs, and a cat, so far Ive been lucky and everyone has been nice to each other....
