im ordering:

herpmist hobbyist system (red 80,low flow, superswivel)
digital timer
22 quart resevoir
quick connect filter
screen adapters

questions are:

will this complete my 2 cage setup?(2x2x4/3x2x4)
will i still need to fill resevoir with distilled/spring water or is tap ok with filter?
do i need tube cutters or is scissors alright?
do i have to mount nozzles in corners with adapters or can i put in center?
how often will i have to fill resevoir with 3-4 / 1-2min misting sessions a day?

THANKS!!!

goin to winndixie to see what they use for the thunder effect, i want it!!!

I know Jason has a number on his website... Wish I could help you with some answers but I haven't made that purchase yet.

tube cutter rocks and is well worth the investment

i have 4 of the spray heads and almost empty the reservoir daily with 2 ten and 2 fifteen minute mistings.

do you have 2 spray nozzles?

good luck

Sean

i prefer to cut with razor blades in a sharp, straight, sawing motion with a touch of tension on the tube when i cut

standard system, 2 nozzles. what kinda water yall using? what will this filter do for me? i dont want to have to clean my mist heads all the time, thats y im buying it i think.lol. ordering this afternoon after work.

Just bought my system from jason, he was extremely helpfull with everything and answered all my questions in depth. i wish all of my purchases were this enjoyable. Herpmist customer service quality is second to none, i highly recommend this company!!!

I bought the big enchilada system, comes in next week cant wait!!!

the best way to bypass nozzle problems is by using R.O. water

that filter will help, but not much on hard water, it will jsut take out large particals, culmulative build up will still clog your nozzles

thanks dank, im gonna try to find a cheap RO system switched with no resevoir so i can fill my mister resevoir.

also, im gonna buy a small fishtank heater to sit in bottom of resevoir to keep water hot.

you can get a float valve from places like kent marine and then your resevoir will remain full but not overflow. if you want a product number PM me and when i get home i will send it to your

good luck

Sean

The Big Enchilada includes a tubing cutter, btw. :) I wouldn't cut that stuff with anything but a tubing cutter. They're a real time and finger saver and pretty cheap to boot.

razor blade works fine

i would not reccomend heating your resovoir unless you keep the water circulating, stagnant warm water is a no no

Heck, throw some fish in there, too. :)

Razorblades suck for cutting tubing. You have to make sure that you're cutting at a 90° angle, place the tubing on a hard surface, then keep your fingers out the way. The "V" shape of a tubing cutter blade keeps it from being crushed while it's cut and the guides at the bottom keep the tubing aligned.

If you're trying to fit tubing to an exact installation length, using a razor blade in mid-air is just asking for trouble. It's a "last resort", not the proper tool for the job. That's why I include them with the BE and discount them with the Hobbyist system. I'd rather give them away and have my customers be as safe as possible. I don't care how good your health insurance is, $4 is a lot cheaper than any copay!

Heck, you can use a handsaw to cut the plywood for a set of cabinets. I would use a tablesaw (actually, my Festool plunge saw, but you get my point.)

goldfish maybe, lol. hey it ship out today or sunday? curious cuz i forgot to ask about the superswivel heads, but its not that big of a deal, im sure the normal swivel heads will be ok. what the superswivels have another plane of motion?

The tube cutter was freekin awesome. I tried it without just to see the advantage of it, and wow, made life so much easier. I then chased my girlfriend around the house with it becuase it looks so evil :)

yea you make a good point about the tubing, more so an issue for cutting thicker tubing

i sliced my finger up last year cutting thick 3/4 inch heavy duty tubing, eeek

Got to get me some fish in my reservoir too

like i said tube cutter rocks!!, tried to chase my wife with tube cutter.....found out my couch is quite comfortable to sleep on thanks cammieNLeno LOL :D:eek:
