Cage Flooring

Howdy!

I have a builders bug going and am looking to build a new, bigger, cage for my male veiled, bob. Right now he is in one that is 2.5x3x5 feet. I know that one is big enough as is, but has a couple issues and want to scrap it because of those. I'm now looking to build one that is 2' deep, 6' wide and 6' tall that can be separated into 2 cages if needed if I decide on getting a 2nd cham later (lets face it, I'll get one.... so might as well prepare now!).

So, what I'm trying to figure out is the flooring. Right now I made my own floor with a tilt and lined it with epoxy to make it water proof (see my gallery for pics).

While this works ok, I think it could be better. What does everyone else do? I was thinking of having some kind of plastic bottom with a center drain, like a refrigerator drip pan... but haven't been able to locate anything to this point. The rest of the cage will be built with 2x2's around the floor. I feel that the floor and the drain is the biggest attribute for a cage with the amount of misting going on.

So, thoughts? I was hoping to get something I can put the plants on. 1 or 2 pieces because of the length. Easy to clean and won't rust. No more than 1-2" tall.

Thanks!

i would look at the shower baisins at a local harware store. you might find somthing. also look in the plumbing department for a under the washing machine plastic drain. that might help.

well, when you build your new cage go ahead and make it so it is set up for two cages. place two of thos big black plactic tubs at the bottom. make it so wood support beams hold the edge/handles. the space between thos tubs will be your center for a wall. remember chams should not see eachother so a wall must be placed there. hope you get the drift on what i havein my head.
