Cage question

het everyone, I'm looking to move my chameleon to a larger wire cage. I'm going to line it with mesh so it can grab on the sides. The case is an old brid cage we are no longer using, but it's a perfect size for my little baby. My only concern is how would I keep the humidity levels up? does that just involve misting more often? I mist her current area about 3 times a day. I'm moving her into something that will allow better air flow.

I've added a picture of the cage. The birds are moving to a smaller one, and I will be giving it a VERY good cleaning before she goes into it.

I can't afford a mesh cage right now, so this is just a temperary housing.

I dont really see how it would be any harder to keep the humidity up in that cage lined with mesh than it would be in a normal mesh cage?

if it becomes a problem fill it full of live plants

What are the dementions?
You dont need mesh... As long as you cup feed the insects.
How will you mount the UVB tube and basking light?
Its a great idea, and if the dementions are right, it could be a permanent home.

EDIT:

You should be using live plants anyways.
Ficus, Pothos, Hibiscus, Schefflera and draceana are excellent choices.

People use bird cages, its no big deal. You just have to worry about the bugs escaping.... And live plants would be a good idea. It is more natural and helps with humidity... if you have issues you can cover parts of the cage with plastic... just leave at least two sides without a cover. Also mind the heat from the lights... the bars can get hot and you don't want her grabbing hot bars....

Hey everyone, So i've set up her new cage. It's MUCH better than where she was before.

I just have to add some more plants and it'll be perfect.

Here are some pictures.

So what do you think?

Nice set up but what's that on the floor of the cage? It is recommended to keep the floor bare.

Veileds love to eat stuff and your cham could eat that and become impacted. I would take that out and leave the floor bare. That will also make is easier for cleaning.

Yeah I use that stuff in molly's cage, it works nice and you can plant the live plants right into the bottom so they suck up any access moisture.
