Cage Size

Hey guys I am new to the forums and about to get my first Panther Cham for Christmas and have a question about cage size. Can I use a bigger cage for a juvenile? I understand it makes it harder for them to find food but beyond that is there any reason why you couldn't start out with a bigger cage and maybe section it off to make it smaller? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

you can use a full size cage for a juvenile no problem. I started my panther out in a 18 x 30 x 36. Alot of people use the 24 X 24 X 48. That is what i have now. This size was suggested by the breeder (Kammerflage Kreations) and my cham never had a problem finding food. It should work fine and you can always cup feed too. Oh and welcome to the forums!!

Welcome welcome grumpymedic! This forum will be of great help on your cham keeping as it was for me! I can agree with carol, many keepers have raised their juvenile chams in an adult sized enclosure with great success. I raised Kiddo(2 months old male Veiled) in a 16x16x30, if that could give you an idea. He did not have any problems at all hunting for his food, I free range and cup feed him. Kiddo is now 4 months old and the cage is still fine, but sooner or later I'm gonna have to move him into a 24x24x48 as my current enclosure will be too tight for him and he gets bigger :) and sorry I don't own a panther, but I do want one! :(

There is someone on here that is building a cage for a new cham and they are making it big, but sectioning off a smaller part for when he is small. Can't quite think of their name right now. They are posting updates with pics on it that would probably give you some good ideas. It's in this forum. Sorry, I know that was incredibly vague!

Welcome to the forums! People are usually a lot more helpful that I just was! haha  Really, though, there is a lot of great advice and helpful people on here!

Edited to add...the person's name is mcbdz. I don't know how to post a link to that thread, but they are doing the same thing you are talking about.

Mcbdz..I hope you don't mind me mentioning you. I remembered it bc my husband wanted to do the same thing when we got our little guy and he couldn't think of how to do it.

Thanks for the great advice and the warm welcome! I will look up the cage project and see how they are doing it, but it doesn't sound like it's a big deal to give them some room to play :D Thanks again!!
