So today was about 80 degrees (Fahrenheit), and after we got home we decided to take Calvin outside and she had a great time. I loved watching her walk through the grass it was amazing. I cannot get over how awesome her coloring is

So lucky! I am afraid to let my little Sherman out. He's a fast little sucker! If he makes it to a tree, he's gone.:eek: (I'm sure he's probably not as fast as he seems, but it's a scary thought.)

She looks so happy! (y)

Its the first time she's ever been outside, so she was a bit sketchy about everything. We put her on a tree and she did good climbing until it got windy and then she looked like she was hugging the branch. It also looked like she was having a hard time gripping it. She loved the grass though and the sun. I can't wait to bring her outside more

I like her patterns. They are very pretty. My chameleon is terrified of the outside so I am working with him
It's definitely a big adjustment for her. She's still young and outside must be so weird to her. She was happy though. And thank you :) she's a beauty

Amazing colors! I'm not allowed to put my little one on the grass because of the chemicals from pesticides and what not but he is still out side. She looks very happy out there

Be very careful...birds will fly down and grab her in a heartbeat. Don't ever turn your back. They love being outside and real sunlight is good for them but there are dangers involved.

I watched her constantly. I don't helicopter parent my kids, but she's so tiny and I'm so afraid something would happen to her if I didn't watch her constantly while we're outside :(

She does not look happy on the grass, she looks incredibly stressed. Chameleons are incredibly stressed when out in the open like that, especially on the ground.

When you put a chameleon outside for sun, you put them in an outdoor cage or on a safe bush and you watch them. They do not ever want to be out in the open on the grass.

Your chameleon looks very very stressed. Those bright spotty colors are not happy colors, they are stressed colors. Chameleons are tree dwellers. Being out in the open on the ground is very unnatural for them. Next time find a nice bush with cover for her to hide in to put her on. Or get an outdoor cage and put a big bushy plant in it for her.

Thank you for letting me know! What kind of outdoor cage would you suggest? She changed to her normal color when we put her in the tree. Unfortunately the only bush in our yard we would probably lose her in so I didn't want to put her in that one :/ but I will definitely look up different plants for her. Thank you again. My intention was not to stress her out :( now I feel like a horrible chameleon mom

A reptibreeze? Or you can make a hoop cage from 1/4" plastic coated hardware cloth and wrap it around a plant. I've never done a hoop cage because I'm just plain lazy I guess. I never could figure out how to make it safe enough with a door and a roof. Just make sure whatever you put her in is secure and in dappled light so you don't cook her in the sun.
