Where can I order a good wire screen cage??? I cant find on the size I want anywhere! I want 30x18x30, The one I have now is this size but a friend of mine brought there dog to my house, and the dog jumped up on the cage and poked holes in it...So I would like a new one...The one I have now is made my ESU, Can I find this anywhere?

I've ordered both of my cages through Tyler at BB and had no issues what so ever with them. Below is a pic of both of my cages, one if silver and the other black..

I bought a cage from the same place (he is still selling cages). I was wondering from the photos: I have a similar cage (a little bigger) And am trying to figure out my misting and drainage options. What did you do? Can you run through your entire set up. What did you do with the shelves, plastic buckets on bottom (drainage aid?), etc. I also want to hang a pothos in mine, but I am afraid the cage will not hold it. What do you think? Why the 2 heat lamps?

I bought the misting system from Jason at herpmist and I have 2 ways of setting it up. you can kind of notice the bottom bucket on the bottom of the silver cage on the lower shelf. I have a line going from the bucket to the pump and that runs up through the left side of the cage where I have a pass through nozzle which then runs through another pass through nozzle and then through a 3rd pass through nozzle until the end of the black cage on the right. You can see the 1 line running from the silver cage to the black cage. Each cage has 2 nozzles on the back side where I have the system mist for 10min in the morning, 5 mid day and then another 10 a few hours before the lights shut off. I drilled small holes in the pastic, foam whatever you want to call it where the water drains into. the crickets can't get through it at all and its dry within a matter of 30-1hr after I mist....depending on the humidity in the room. I find that the metal shelves from Target for $30 work the best as the length is exactly what the cage is being 36 inches. The plastic buckets are the same deal in the hold the water so nothing end up on the floor. Around the back I have a shower curtain on both cages so prevent any water from hitting the walls...the setup I have works great and my chams couldnt be any happier...well maybe they could I can't really ask em. :p.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I know what I wrote above is a readers digest version of everything.

by the way I bought the black cage about a month ago from Tyler so I would imagine he is still selling them.

Chris,

Thanks for the details, but I can kind of be a moron. Let me clarify... You drill holes into the green bottom of the cage and let the water drip into the bucket? How big of a hole do you drill and where on the bottom? No feeders have gotten through? I am guessing the rest of your info is related to using the mister for two cages, right? If I get a mister, I am guessing I will need to get an adapter (like the one sold @ herpmist.com) for the screen. Also, what do you think about possibly hanging a pothos plant in there. Any way for this to be safely done? How tall and deep is your cage?

Thanks again.

Don't worry about sounding dumb here, like I said the details were not very good plus no pictures so its hard to tell. to start off with using a Pathos. I don't know of a very unique way of hanging one so that there is little to no stress on screen so unfortunately not unless someone else knows a good way I don't believe I will be much help here. So far I have been using either a Schefferella plant or Hibiscus. I may tree a ficus or 2 next time I need to exchange plants out and see how well they would be. So far many many people like them more. The cage dimensions are 30"L x 18"W x 36"H which seems to work well with the metal stands I picked up at Target. The 2 buckets when side by side with a slight overlap cover the bottom perfectly for the drainage.

The size of the holes are no larger then a pin hole, just enough that the water drips down and the bugs can't excape. For a smaller cage I would use a smaller drillbit...which one off hand I couldn't tell you right now I just eyed it. Cricks will excape no matter what to be honest with you. I noticed that a few can get in the screen and out the bottom but if your dealing with the larger crickets this shouldnt be an issue at all.

I dealt with Jason at Herpmist for everything and I know a plug is coming here but even over the weekends he was very professional and curtious in every question I asked. I picked up the Big Enchilada System along with screen adapters, extra hosing, cutter and nozzles and it works great. I dumb the water out once a week and fill the tank up twice and that takes care of ALL the misting that needs to be done 3xs a day for 25min. You can tell from the pic above that they are not hurting for water at all.

O.k. my friend ~

The water from the mister (which collects on the bottom) simply drips through a very small hole (drill bit?) into two buckets, right? How many holes? I am asking so much because I having been reading many posts where people have all kinds of great drainage ideas. However, I can't figure out some of them. This seems easy and affordable. Any drawbacks? Regarding the plants: I have the same plants minus the ficus. I have a parlor palm, which got a little "bleached". Regarding the mister: I will most likely get one from them as well. I just help it comes with very detailed instructions on how to set it up. Is the attachment easy to set up? Now the big question: Where did you get the beautiful cham in the last photo?????

Thanks again!

For drainage from my chams cage. I drilled a couple of small 1/8 ish hokle close together, hot glued some screen under the bottom of the cage to cover the holes. Taped a small funnel over the hole and attached a small piece of tubing (aquarium size) that runs to a collection jug.

I have my cage setting on a few decorative old bricks that hide the tubing and provides the space for the funnel.

Good luck!

Dig,

How do you know where to drill the holes? I mean, there is no actual certainty that the water will collect exactly where you drill the holes. If it is not a tilted surface, won't the water kind of just sit?
